Episode 13

First container arrived
Today we hired a truck to move everything to site at the golf course and to store it until our containers are actually installed. Kelly Blumberg managed to get Reuben De Waal on board as a techie. He has now worked on quite a few Tracks' shows. We love the Carnie-Folk who come to Darwin every dry season. As the first container arrived we started to stack the bits and pieces in. One will be for produciton gear (Sound/light etc) and one for cast bits

Our swamp takes shape
Bumping everything in while dodging golf balls will be interesting. Especially the installation of the boat on the lake, which is right in front of the first tee off point. But it will be worth it to be able to rehearse properly tonight. Perhaps we will get a full run of the show - without having to stop. (Fingers crosses).

Kelly will distribute drink bottles to the cast tonight, which are all customised to be different.  This should stop the excessive plastic drink bottles that are a part of being nowhere near a tap. They look great and Stepahnie Cvirn has made name labels for all of them on Kelly's Wonder Labeler.

According to Gail Evans Administrator, Box office figures today show that we are selling tickets almost twice as quickly as the same time last year. So I continue to urge people to book as we will not be able to squeeze anyone extra in to this show as, unlike many of our other shows,  there are exact numbers of seats.

Across the swamp

Beautiful Darwin Dry Season
Today a key thing has been the installation of our boat and ramp for the Swamp Scene. We have been rehearsing assuming it will all work out in the lake, and ... it did. Perfect number of sandbags. Boat is solid, and does not leak - all is well in our universe.

On a sadder note, the Darwin Festival got broken into last night. With only a 10 days to go till opening, this sucks. The premises at Frog Hollow Centre for the Arts are constantly being broken into. We have had 2 in the past 6 months. Such a shame as the arts organisations are so restricted by limited funds, and do not need this. Maybe one day the Northern Territory Government will put an alarm system in, and help protect some of their key cultural assets.

The Dress

Looks like a bit like an ensemble my mum used to don during the Christmas holidays at Forster Caravan Park..."  Annaliesse Monaro, Project Coordinator, Market Development, Australia Council for the Arts
