Episode 14

Tuesday night rehearsal - we got 2 full runs in. I was surprised how cool it got later in the evening. We have had issues on this sight before with humidity and warping stage. We are hoping that we have solved this for this show - by both an earlier start and black plastic under the stage. We will see. Only a few minor choreographic changes to make (refinements really) and then the show can run in. Some still need to consolidate their moves, but the Cast generally remembered the last notes.

Duets of difference
Wednesday day. Setting up the space during the day, with the aim of rehearsing the lovers meet in the swamp scene. We rehearsed the scene once the sun went down so we could see the lights working - the red croc eyes, the Thai lanterns, the internal boat lights and the profiles from the other side of the lake, the glitter of the ring. The generator (thanks to Ty at Northern Maritime Services) was delightfully quiet, but so was the music. Matthew Cunliffe, through the wonders of dropbox, has remastered the track to make it louder, but we might need to get a bigger sound system.  Julia and Yoris were a delight to work with - the experience of so many shows and so many varied outdoor venues.

[I am giving fair warning now. We are performing next to a lake close to the beach and there is a full moon August 14 - so this means breeding of biting insects, mozzies and midges. Cover up and spray. We will have spray at Front of House Box Office, so don't be shy]. It is not easy for performers when handling the outdoors in the tropics - the insects, the lack of theatre walls, the distractions of the roads and planes and other natural occurrences.

Thursday - James & the Team at Darwin Correctional Services arrived on site (all 18 of them) and the fencing has been covered, the stage painted and the wall props installed. Gail did a morning tea drop adn everyone is happy.

All ready for tonight's first full run of the show on site.
